Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Outlines Ambitious Plans for Maritime Trade and Cruise Tourism in Mumbai

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced significant advancements in India’s maritime trade and tourism sectors during a recent event in Mumbai. He reiterated the government’s commitment to investing ₹80 lakh crore to promote maritime trade across various sectors, highlighting the launch of the “Amrit Kaal Maritime Vision 2047” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his address, Sonowal detailed the initiation of the “Cruise Bharat Mission,” designed to enhance preparations for making India a global hub for cruise tourism. “We are committed to taking whatever steps are required for this. Our goal is to make India a leading destination for cruise tourism worldwide,” he stated.

The minister emphasized that the government is actively working on all necessary arrangements to support this vision. The Cruise Bharat Mission aims to streamline the processes involved in cruise tourism, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting India as a premier destination for international cruise liners.

Sonowal’s remarks come as part of a broader strategy to leverage India’s extensive coastline and rich cultural heritage to attract global travelers. The government’s focus on maritime trade and tourism is expected to create job opportunities and boost economic growth in coastal regions.

As preparations continue under the Cruise Bharat Mission, stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sectors are optimistic about the potential growth in cruise tourism, which has seen a surge in global popularity.
