US Consul General Mike Hankey Remembers Ratan Tata’s Impact on Society and Education

Mumbai, Maharashtra – Mike Hankey, Consul General at the US Consulate General in Mumbai, expressed his deep admiration for Ratan Tata, following the industrialist’s recent passing. In a poignant statement, Hankey reflected on Tata’s extensive connections and contributions to various sectors, emphasizing his significant impact on education, philanthropy, and economic leadership.

“As a representative of the US government, I have come here to honor a remarkable individual,” Hankey stated. He highlighted Tata’s ability to inspire across generations, noting that such influence is rare. “Looking at the connections Ratan Tata had as a person, as a human, as a leader in economics and society, you can see the outsized impact that he had.”

Hankey specifically mentioned Tata’s ties to prestigious US institutions such as Cornell University and the University of Southern California, illustrating Tata’s commitment to education and his vision for fostering global partnerships.

Reflecting on their personal meeting, Hankey shared, “We talked about technology, and I was inspired by it. His insights were profound, and his passion for innovation was evident.”
