BJP Leader Sudhir Mungantiwar Calls for Strict Action Against Abu Azmi Over Aurangzeb Remarks

Date:

The controversy surrounding Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi’s remarks on Aurangzeb has intensified, with BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar demanding strict action against him, including suspension and the revocation of his rights as a legislator.

Mungantiwar compared the situation to a previous case where an MLA was suspended for making derogatory comments about Indian soldiers and was denied salary. He questioned why similar action should not be taken when it concerns Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a revered figure in Maharashtra’s history.

“An MLA made derogatory comments on Indian soldiers, and we suspended him and did not even pay him salary; then what happened to us when it came to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj? A person who praised Aurangzeb should be stripped of his rights,” said Mungantiwar.

Condemning Azmi’s remarks, Mungantiwar asserted that anyone who glorifies Aurangzeb is acting against the dignity of the nation. “He should be ashamed of doing this against the dignity of the country… He should be suspended, and he will definitely be suspended. He should not be given salary or any other rights as an MLA,” he added.

The demand for Azmi’s suspension has gained traction, with multiple BJP leaders calling for strong disciplinary action. As the debate over historical narratives and political responsibility continues, all eyes are now on the Maharashtra government’s response to these demands.
